The Volvo Group of Colombia showed a unique example of green models with the extensive use of recycled or recyclable materials and the commitment to minimize waste production. The group showcased its brand’s commitment to green technology with a stand designed by Deko Solutions S.A.S. to showcase its line of buses, hybrid and electric vans at the 2015 Feria Internacional de Transporte Corferias (Fitrans). So Oscar Acosta, president and CEO of Deco, literally started from the showroom floor, featuring moveable pallets that were made with laminate and didn’t require chemical adhesives.
Acosta drew inspiration from nature to design the booth’s focal points and believed: “Nature’s geometry follows organic lines.” He used elements he modeled on the shape of a bird’s wing throughout the exhibition. The structures were made of plywood sourced from certain “sustainable forests” and the ribbed structure was a little more than 13 feet wide and 16 feet long. Also, the two large windows of the customer meeting room were covered with wooden cuts similar to the veins of tree leaves.
When Fitrans ended, the laminate flooring was donated to a local school, a charitable and eco-friendly gesture that won many points from the judges. One of them said: “All the green implementation ideas have been calculated for this exhibition and it is really remarkable”.
